If you keep up with gaming news, you know Fortnite is the hottest game out at the moment. Everyone, including famous rappers, is playing this First Person Shooter.
Fortnite is the game which doesn’t seem to be going away, no matter how much some people wish it would.Well, it seems some aren’t all too happy about that
Frustrated with how their loved ones have become obsessed with Fortnite, hundreds of people have signed a petition simply titled, “Get rid of Fortnite.” Its mission is to ban the game .
As reported by the Washington Post (which, it should be said, is itself evident of Fortnite’s popularity), the Change.org petition has accumulated about 730 signatures at the time of this writing. Most express frustration that their loved ones are neglecting them in favor of the game; as Chloe DePalma wrote, “It’s taking over our boyfriends lives and brainwashing them.”
Some of the other petitioner’s reasons for wanting Fortnite banned are equally as ludicrous/hilarious.
“Fortnite is annoying, it is distracting when people talk about it in class,” says one petitioner. “It is lowering my friend’s grades as they are addicted to it. I don’t know what to do, she’s throwing her life away for the game.” I had to deal with kids talking about tamagotchi back in the day. I found that annoying too, but I didn’t want the damn thing banned. I do appreciate her concern for her friend, however.
Another petitioner says: “Fortnite is turning into more than a game, it’s turning into an unhealthy obsession. I have heard kids saying ‘Why bother to read books or do work when I can play Fortnite?’.” Kids say stupid shit, bro. Relax.
“I’m signing because Fortnite is a bad game and that people are getting in fights and hurting themselves because of this game.” Getting into fist fights over video games. This takes me back.
